A town with an active historical society, Mint Hill boasts a historic village as a result of their efforts. It includes the former home of a country doctor, a country store, schoolhouse, and several other buildings. First settled in the mid-1700s, the area is an attractive place to live, offering good schools, several golf courses, country clubs, and recreational areas, and a thriving community spirit. Within easy reach of I-485 led to significant growth here, though the town retains a charming, small-town feel. Still, residents here enjoy easy access to Charlotte and to the Charlotte Douglas International airport. The town center boasts new housing developments, shopping areas, office parks, and more. The Bridges of Mint Hill, a new multi-use development, will feature shopping and entertainment venues connected by bridges over Goose Creek.
This is an active community, as evidenced by numerous community events and festivals. The Mint Hill Madness festival in Mint Hill celebrated in September, begins with a parade and includes games, rides, food, fireworks, a pageant, and more. Several arts festivals are also hosted here, including Sunday Afternoon in the Park, in Wilgrove Park, a monthly gallery crawl, and community programs that provide art workshops.
Neighborhoods vary widely here, including equestrian communities, or town-center housing with an emphasis on smaller lots in pedestrian-friendly areas, where residents can walk to shopping and dining areas. Prices in Mint Hill vary from the low $100s to more than $1 million.
