Indian Land, South Carolina

Indian Land is located just across the South Carolina border just Southwest of Charlotte. Sandwiched between Fort MillMarvin, and Ballantyne, the community is enjoying its own boom thanks to nearby development. Because SC taxes are more favorable to businesses, large companies like Red Ventures, Continental Tire, and Movement Mortgage have chosen to set up shop here, bringing jobs and housing with them.

Although Indian Land is currently unincorporated, a movement is underway to give it full city status separate from its identity as a Lancaster County community. US-521 connects Indian Land with Waxhaw and Charlotte proper and is the main ‘thoroughfare’ through the area, along with SC 160. Much of the development in Indian land – mostly strip malls and stand-alone chain restaurants – is along one of these two highways, designed to service the area’s major employers.

New construction is rampant in Indian Land, spread from neighboring Fort Mill. Builders like True Homes and David Weekley are developing huge projects in the area and Indian Land remains a great place to raise a family. Homes here are still affordable and it’s relatively easy to find a large-sized lot. For people who work in nearby Ballantyne or at one of the greater Fort Mill area’s largest employers, a home in Indian Land is a great choice.
